How the knockout rounds unfolded

The expanded format added a Round of 32 between the group stage and the Round of 16. Argentina came through a quarter-final against Switzerland in Kansas City before reaching the final, where they played the closing stretch with ten men after Enzo Fernández picked up a second yellow in stoppage time. Ferran Torres, on from the bench, settled it in the 106th minute.
